Michael Hilal
Designer Michael Hilal creates spaces inspired by the easy living and sun-kissed imperfection of his home state of California. His practice lies at the intersection of interiors, objects, art and fashion, and he specializes in working with artists and artisans spanning many communities and backgrounds. Subverting the concept of formality in design, Hilal’s spaces are bespoke and put-together, but approachable. He excels at crafting interiors that are distinctive for each client, yet share a common thread—they are relaxing, inviting and effortless.
Michael has been featured as one of Architectural Digest’s “New American Voices” and on the prestigious 1stDibs50 list in 2025 and 2023. He was awarded the Emerging Designer Award in 2021 from California Home & Design magazine.
His work has been featured in Architectural Digest in US and international editions, Dwell, Surface, The Local Project, The Wall Street Journal, Galerie, Sight Unseen, HYPEBEAST, Milk Decoration, Living Etc, Elle Decoration Middle East and others.
His first furniture collection, Big Sur, which won an AN Best of Product Award and was a finalist for Interior Design magazine’s Best of Year Awards, is available through St Vincents in Antwerp.
