Thomas Robinson
Thomas Robinson is the Founder of LEVER Architecture, a leading architectural practice recognized for design excellence and material innovation. With offices in Portland and Los Angeles, LEVER collaborates with communities, institutions, and creative companies to design buildings and spaces that elevate human experience. LEVER was recently awarded a USFS Wood Innovations Grant that will fund the firm’s proposal for developing a digital tool that tracks wood products and the forest management practices associated with them. The firm’s work has been recognized with over 50 design awards and has completed over 20 mass timber structures.
Robinson’s projects encompass first-of-their-kind timber buildings for clients such as The Nature Conservancy, NBCUniversal, and adidas. He has lectured on mass timber throughout the U.S., Europe, and South America. Robinson believes in the potential of architecture as an intelligent tool that can profoundly impact the environment in ways that extend beyond any specific site to be a regenerative force in the world. The decisions architects make each day regarding the materials they use matter. Where materials come from, how they are produced, and who puts them together is directly connected to the major issues facing us regionally and globally—housing, economic equity, and climate change.
